Appeal by murdered man's mother
Police officers
The man's body was found on waste land
The mother of a man found murdered on waste ground has made an emotional appeal for information about his death.

The body of Kevin Clark, 22, was discovered on a derelict part of Glasgow's Carntyne area on 18 January.

Det Chief Insp George Lambie, who is leading the inquiry, said on Tuesday he wished to speak to anyone who saw Kevin in the period from 0215 GMT until his body was found in Myreside Road more than eight hours later.

As a mother I would urge anyone with any information which could help police with their inquiries to come forward

Kevin's mother, Brenda, was comforted by her husband, John - both aged 47 - as she told how her family was coming to terms with their loss.

Mrs Clark said: "It is now over a week since my son, Kevin, was found murdered in Carntyne.

"The full family are devastated by this and we can't believe this has happened.

"No-one can appreciate just how horrendous it feels when someone from your family is murdered until it actually happens.

"Our lives will never be the same again."

Fighting back tears Mrs Clark made a direct appeal to the public by saying: "As a mother I would urge anyone with any information which could help police with their inquiries to come forward.

'Full of fun'

"I cannot bury Kevin until you are caught and put in jail."

Mrs Clark said she feared that the killer or killers could strike again.

She spoke of a son who was always full of fun.

Mr Clark, who was unemployed, single and lived in the Cambuslang area, was originally from Carntyne and had family in the area.

DCI Lambie said door-to-door inquiries had so far failed to shed any light on the case.

He said: "Despite an appeal for sightings I have not heard from anyone who saw Kevin between 2.15am and 10.30am, when he was found lying in the street.

"It is important that anyone who may have seen him after 2.15am comes forward to help us progress the inquiry."

DCI Lambie said he could not give any details about how Kevin died.

But he added: "Kevin was the victim of a vicious attack and I would emphasise the fact that no person that knew Kevin would have wished him to be murdered and left lying in the street."

He said that Kevin was well known in the Carntyne area.

An incident room has been established at London Road police office and an incident caravan has also been set up in Carntyne.
