Teenager's model ambitions
Jerry Boylan
Jerry Boylan hopes to win the model competition
A north Wales teenager has been given a taste of model stardom after reaching the final of a national competition.

Jerry Boylan, 14, from Wrexham has been selected from thousands of wannabe models.

They told me I had a good jaw line, nice teeth and I'm very photogenic

She is one of six girls battling it out in the Sugar/Rimmel Model Competition.

If she wins she will appear on the front cover of Sugar magazine, star in a fashion shoot and fly to America on a four day holiday.

Talent scouts visited seven shopping centres across the UK and Ireland last year and Jerry was spotted at the Trafford Centre in Manchester.

The St Joseph High School pupil said she could not believe it when she heard she had got through.

"I was crying and just really ecstatic, my parents have been supporting me loads and my friends all said that they would vote for me, " she said.

Jerry will now feature in the March issue of the magazine and the winner will be chosen by readers in a phone vote.

The youngster said the talent scouts were pleased with her appearance.

"They told me I had a good jaw line, nice teeth and I'm very photogenic.

Future career

"I've always wanted to be a hairdresser really but if I could be a model I'd like that.

"I'd like to be like Jemma Kidd who is a model and a make up artist."

She will now go head to head with the five other finalists but Jerry said they have all become good friends.

"We bonded straight away and we text each other all the time," she said.

The winner will be announced in a months time.
