Pay out after club bars blind man
Mr Griffiths enjoys going clubbing on a regular basis
Nightclub bosses have apologised to a man from Merseyside after refusing him entry because he is blind.
John Griffiths also received £750 compensation following the incident which took place at the Junction Nightclub in Brighton. Mr Griffiths, 51, was turned away because the club said it has a policy of not allowing people with disabilities in unless they are accompanied by an able-bodied person. His action has now led to the club reversing the policy. Mr Griffiths, from Moreton, Wirral, was supported by the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) in taking legal action against club owners, Sound and Music GB Limited. He brought his case under the Disability Discrimination Act. As well as receiving the compensation, Mr Griffiths received a letter of apology from the club.
