Woman's arm broken in pub attack
Drinkers at the pub could be witnesses
Police have appealed for witnesses after a gang attack outside a Sussex pub left a woman with a broken arm and a man with head injuries.
The man, in his 50s, and the woman, who was 24, had been drinking in the Star pub, in Crawley Road, Horsham, on Saturday with another couple. After they left the pub, a group of up to five men set upon the man, hitting him with a pool cue and a glass bottle. The woman was attacked after she went to help him. Unprovoked attack She suffered a broken arm and her companion was left with head injuries. Police were called to the disturbance, at the rear of the pub, at around 2030 GMT. Detective Sergeant Stuart Hale, who is leading the investigation, appealed for any witnesses who were in the pub at that time to come forward. He said: "This is a particularly violent and unprovoked attack. "It would appear from what we already know that one of the men acted as a ringleader, telling others in the group what to do."
