New teacher dies in crash
Police in car
Officers had lost sight of the car at the time of the crash
A driver who fled a crash which killed a woman teacher is being hunted by police.

Helen Clark, a 23-year-old bride-to-be from Calcot in Berkshire, died when her car hit a Vauxhall Vectra that was being followed by police.

A man is believed to have jumped from the vehicle and run from the crash in Tilehurst, Reading.

Children at Birch Copse School in Tilehurst, where Ms Clark started her first teaching post a year ago, were sent home for the day on Tuesday.

At home

Parents of her class of four-year-old pupils have been asked to keep their children at home until next Monday.

Ms Clark's Renault Clio collided with the Vectra at about 1730 GMT on Monday.

A spokeswoman for Thames Valley Police said officers had been following the Vectra at a distance in an unmarked police car.

The spokeswoman said: "At the time of the collision, the police vehicle had lost sight of the Vectra and came upon the collision a few minutes later."
