Dhaka mob attacks suspected criminals
The authorities in Bangladesh say five suspected criminals under police escort in the capital, Dhaka, have been attacked by local residents and had their eyes removed.

They say a group of people seized the men from their police guards and mutilated them as they were being taken to the Pallabi district of the city to recover illegal weapons.

Four policeman were injured in the incident.

Bangladeshi police say local people had been complaining about the men's alleged criminal activities for some time.
