Man hurt in hit-and-run
Park Street, Bristol
The man was knocked down in Park Street, Bristol
A man is recovering after being knocked down by a hit-and-run driver as he stepped out into a road to hail a taxi in Bristol city centre.

The man, from the Redland area of the city, suffered a broken arm and head injuries in the collision which happened at 2335 GMT on Saturday.

It is thought the man had left a bar in Park Street and stepped into the road when he was hit by a Vauxhall Corsa coming from the direction of College Green, which failed to stop.

Following the crash the car, which witnesses say was blue or purple and L-registered, drove off towards Park Row.

The victim was taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Police believe the area would have been busy at the time of the collision and have asked anyone who saw what happened to contact them.

They would also like to hear from anyone who knows of a blue or purple Vauxhall Corsa which may have collision damage.
