Vandals put motorists in danger
Police graphic generic
North Wales Police are trying to track down "mindless" vandals who are putting lives at risk by placing boulders on a dual carriageway in Denbighshire.

Officers have found the rocks, some described as large as footballs, on both lanes of the A525 road near Rhuddlan.

If whoever is responsible continues with this mindless action there is a very strong possibility that we will have a very serious - if not fatal collision on our hands

North Wales Police spokesperson

Police have said it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured.

"Between 5 January and 18 January two collisions have occurred on the dual carriageway," North Wales Police spokesperson.

"If whoever is responsible continues with this mindless action there is a very strong possibility that we will have a very serious - if not fatal collision on our hands.

"We will continue to patrol the area, however, we are urging motorists who use the road to be extremely vigilant and cautious and to keep their speeds to a minimum."

Since the beginning of January officers have received five reports of large obstructions on the A525 by-pass.

During one incident patrolling officers removed three large rocks from both of the carriageways lanes.

Anyone with information is asked to call North Wales Police on 0845 607 1002
