The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene
A motorcyclist has been killed in a collision with a lorry on the M1 in Hertfordshire on Monday.

The man was hit after he came off his bike north of the Hemel Hempstead junction as he braked while travelling north.

His name has not been released.

The collision stopped traffic for more than four hours and 22 cars broke down during the wait to clear the motorway.

Hertfordshire police said the cars broke down in the jam either from running out of petrol or overheating.
