Teenager arrested over stabbings
Police
The student was stabbed on Downend Road
Police have arrested a teenager in connection with two stabbings in Bristol.

The 17-year-old, from Horfield, is being detained under the mental health act and is awaiting a place in secure accommodation.

He has also been arrested in connection with six incidents in the city when people were threatened with a knife and robbed.

Police say the suspect is in custody, but has not yet been interviewed.

Extra police

The eight incidents took place over the weekend, but police have only released details of the stabbings.

On Saturday, a 20-year-old University of the West of England student was stabbed in the heart at about 2030 GMT after his attacker ordered him to hand over his wallet.

The student is recovering in hospital where his condition is described as stable.

Two hours previously, a nurse was attacked and wounded in the neck.

Extra police have been drafted in to mount high-visibility patrols in the Montpelier area in the wake of the attacks.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information about the incidents to contact police or Crimestoppers.
