Armed robbers lock staff in pub
Police sign generic
Police are appealing for information
Two armed robbers who locked pub staff in an office before stealing a "large sum of cash" are being hunted by police.

The men, armed with handguns, entered the rear of the Old Forge Pub, in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, and threatened the 35-year-old manager and two 18-year-old female bar staff.

All three workers were locked in the office as the thieves grabbed cash from the tills and then ran off on foot.

The incident happened on Friday at about 2300 GMT.

Did someone notice anyone hanging around outside or near the pub?

Detective Constable Tracy Lambe

On Monday, Hertfordshire Police appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Detective Constable Tracy Lambe said: "We are particularly appealing to people who may have been at the pub until around closing time and may have seen something suspicious as they left.

"Did they notice anyone hanging around outside or near the pub?

Appeal made

"I would urge them to contact us with any information they have, however insignificant it may seem."

One of the robbers was described as being around 5 ft 8 in tall and of medium to heavy build.

He was wearing a dark green balaclava and a dark-coloured jacket.

The other man was described as between 5 ft 8 in and 6ft tall and also wearing a green balaclava.
