Concern grows for missing pensioner
Concern is growing for a missing 75-year-old man from Kettering.
Lawrence McNeill was last seen on Wednesday of last week outside the Texas Pancake House in Gold Street in the town. Mr McNeill does not have his own transport. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 01536 411411.
Robber flees as staff foil raid Staff at a post office in Rushden have foiled an attempted robbery. A man entered the branch in Wellingborough Road on Monday as it was about to close. He repeatedly demanded money, but when staff refused he fled. He was white, in his 20s, 5ft 7ins tall and slim with shoulder-length brown hair.
Churches get heritage cash Two churches in Northamptonshire are to share more than £200,000 in grants. The funding will go to St Andrew's Church in Lower Harlestone and St Mary the Virgin in Weekley. Reverend Giles Godber from St Mary the Virgin said the cash will go towards much-needed roof repairs. The money is coming from English Heritage and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Local firms honoured Staff representing two firms from Northamptonshire made a trip to Buckingham Palace on Monday night. Timsons in Kettering and the Cummins Engine Company in Daventry were honoured with Queen's Awards. Representatives from the firms were invited to the reception in London after winning the awards for international trade. The two companies were also commended for their skills of innovation and development.
Drug offenders deported
Four Jamaican men arrested by police on suspicion of drug offences in Northampton have been deported. The men were arrested on Friday along with two women after armed officers stopped a blue Corsa car in Kettering Road and raided a house in Ruskin Road. A 24-year-old woman has been released on police bail. Police said a 19-year-old has been released without charge.
Teenager's jaw broken in attack A14-year-old boy's jaw was broken when an attacker punched him on Sunday evening. The incident happened in Farm Close, Wootton, while the youngster, from London, was visiting relatives. Police said the boy was with another youngster when a man aged between 18 and 22 approached them and punched him in the face. The offender is described as white, of big build, with dark blonde, possibly gelled, hair. |
