Man arrested over fire strike hoax

The hoax calls were made during recent fire strikes

A man from Chesterfield has been arrested following an inquiry into hoax emergency calls during the last two fire strikes.

Detectives say they are investigating three 999 calls made to the special control centre which was set up during the strikes.

The first two calls requesting the fire service came on 13 November, when firefighters staged their first walk-out.

On 22 November - the day the second walk-out started - another hoax call was made.

The man has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
