Woodland reopens after toddler's death
The Grove after the storms
Benjamin was killed during the storms in October
An area of Suffolk woodland reopened to the public on Monday almost three months after a toddler was killed there by a falling tree.

Benjamin Davey, aged three, died in The Grove, on the outskirts of Felixstowe, during the storms at the end of October.

Since then, tree surgeons have carried out work on more than 200 trees to make the 10-acre woodland safe.

Councillor Maggy Wilson said: "We are pleased to be able to re-open the wood in the knowledge that, in normal weather conditions, it is again a safe place for people to walk through and enjoy."

Order lifted

Benjamin suffered fatal head injuries when a tree fell on his pushchair.

He was one of seven people across the UK killed in the storms on the weekend of 26 to 27 October.

His death is being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive.

A legal order imposed closing the public right of way through the woods until 31 March has also been lifted.
