Axe attack soldier 'out of danger'
Soldiers training generic
The attack took place during training
A soldier allegedly struck with a pick-axe during an Army exercise on Salisbury plain is out of danger.

Lance Corporal Konrad Bisping, 26, from Clitheroe in Lancashire, needed emergency surgery to remove the axe from his head after the incident on 14 January.

Wiltshire police say his condition has now stabilised.

A spokesman said: "There has been some slight improvement over the weekend.

"He is still in a serious condition but has now stabilised and is now not considered critical."

A 17-year-old private, also from the 1st Battalion the Queen's Lancashire Regiment, has been charged with attempted murder and will appear before a youth court on 21 January for committal to Crown Court.
