Boy injured as police follow
Police vehicles
Patrol cars and a police helicopter followed the Fiesta
A teenager has suffered serious spinal injuries after the car he was in was pursued by police.

He was in a Ford Fiesta with three other teenagers which crashed early on Sunday morning.

Officers followed the car in two patrol cars and a police helicopter and 15 minutes later, the Fiesta crashed just north of the Heyford Hill roundabout in Headington.

The injured teenager was initially taken to the John Radcliffe in Oxford, but has now been transferred to Stoke Mandeville Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

Road closed

Two other teenager boys and a teenage girl also required medical treatment following the accident, but their injuries not are thought to be serious.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and the road was closed for five hours afterwards.

The Thames Valley Police professional standards department is now investigating the incident, which happened just after midnight on Saturday.
