A man accused of firing a handgun at revellers during New Year celebrations has appeared in court.

Darren Earl Hayden, 37, of Raymede Drive, Bestwood, Nottingham, was charged with three counts of attempted murder following an incident in the early hours of 1 January.

He is alleged to have opened fire at a house party in Jedburgh Walk, St Ann's, Nottingham.

Mr Hayden appeared before Nottingham Crown Court on Monday and also faces two counts of assault and one of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Police said two people were hurt during the incident, but neither suffered serious injuries.
