Murder hunt after mugging victim dies
Lillian Miller
Lillian Miller was attacked for just a few pounds.
Police have begun a murder inquiry after an 83-year-old woman died almost a month after being mugged.

Lillian Miller died in St James' Hospital, Leeds, last Thursday after complications following surgery on a hip injury she suffered in the street attack.

A post mortem examination at the weekend revealed she died as a result of the injuries she sustained in the attack on 27 December last year.

Detective superintendent Howard Crowther, who is leading the investigation, said: "It was a callous attack on a frail 83-year-old woman.

"The amount of violence used to get only a few pounds was unwarranted."

Mrs Miller was robbed of her handbag and pushed to the ground after leaving a supermarket on Roundhay Road, in Leeds.

After surgery her condition deteriorated and she died on 16 January.
