Fight leaves man in coma
Officers want to speak to anyone who saw the fight
Police are appealing for witnesses to a fight which has left a man in a coma.
The 26-year-old suffered serious head injuries after trouble broke out in Ashton-under-Lyne in the early hours of Monday. It is thought an argument started in the Love Shack nightclub, before spilling out on to St Michael's Square. The injured man was taken to Tameside General Hospital, and later transferred to the intensive care unit at North Manchester General Hospital, where his condition is described as critical. Man arrested Detective Inspector Derek Weaver, from Tameside CID, said: "We believe an altercation began in the Love Shack which may have involved several people. "At some point the fighting has spread outside and a young man is now seriously injured in hospital." Det Insp Weaver said officers wanted to speak to anyone who saw how the argument started, or witnessed the fight at St Michael's Square. A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and was due to be interviewed by police on Monday.
