Policeman vows to find killers
Scene of the arson attack
Ms McDonald was in an upstairs bedroom
The senior detective heading the investigation into an arson attack which caused the death of a mother-of-four has vowed to catch her killers.

Leicestershire Police Detective Superintendent Graham Thomas says everyone involved in the inquiry has been touched by the tragedy.

Sue McDonald, 47, died after arsonists set fire to her home in Broughton Astley, Leicestershire, in December 2002.

Mr Thomas said: "There is no rhyme or reason why anyone would do this dreadful thing."

Cancer treatment

"My team has been touched deeply and that is part of their motivation in this inquiry.

"I personally will leave no stone unturned."

Ms McDonald was about to get married and had recently had treatment for cancer.

The fact that they have not caught anyone is the worst thing

Arson victim's son
Her children Clare, Ben, Paul and Matt say they are devastated that their mother was killed in a fire that was deliberately set.

"The fact that they have not caught anyone is the worst thing," Paul said.

"They can't seem to find any reason at all why anyone would want to do it."

Five young people were arrested and bailed in connection with the incident, but no one has been charged.
