Strained relations
Protesters in Pakistan chant anti-American slogans
In a HARDtalk interview on 20 January, Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, Pakistan Ambassador to the US, talks to Tim Sebastian.
Pakistan says it is a key member of the global coalition against terrorism and a friend of America. But how strong is the friendship? Are relations strained following a recent skirmish on the Pakistan-Afghan border involving US soldiers, America's decision to introduce tight new immigration checks, and claims that Pakistan has been aiding North Korea's nuclear weapons programme? And why is anti-American sentiment growing in Pakistan? Tim Sebastian asks Pakistan's ambassador to the United States, Ashraf Jehangir Qazi if Pakistan is willing to support a tough line against Iraq and whether he thinks the US friendship will last. This interview can be watched in full on Monday 20 January on BBC World and BBC News 24 at the following times: BBC News 24 (times shown in GMT) 0430, repeated 2230 BBC World (times shown in GMT) 0330, repeated 1130, 1530, 1830, 2330
