Inquiry call in missing girl case
Sarah Benford
A £1,000 reward is offered for help finding Sarah
There are calls for an independent inquiry into the disappearance of a Northamptonshire teenager.

Sarah Benford, now 16, vanished from Welford House children's home in Northampton on 6 April 2000.

County councillor Mark Bullock wants an inquiry into how she went missing.

Mr Bullock said: "Sarah was in care - that means the county council was corporate parent of the child.

"We've got to make sure that there aren't two standards of care - one if my daughter went missing and one if a child from care went missing."

He told BBC Radio Northampton that he would like the inquiry to examine the roles of social services and police.

The decision on such an inquiry will take place before the county council's scrutiny committee on Friday.
