Fatally stabbed Iraqi man named
Blackburn central police station
The victim was found in the street with stab wounds
Detectives holding an Iraqi man over the murder of a fellow countryman in Lancashire have been granted an extra 24 hours to question him.

On Tuesday, police named the man who died from stab wounds in Blackburn just before 0000 GMT on Sunday.

Mokhliss Mostafa, who was from the Warrington area, was found in Infirmary Street.

The 26-year-old was taken to the town's Royal Infirmary where he later died.

Lancashire police confirmed Mr Mostafa was an asylum seeker from Iraq.

His application for permanent UK residency had been refused but he had been granted permission to stay in the country for a short period.

A motive for his death has still not been established.
