Fresh hope for new rail station
Train on rural line
Transport chiefs will consider a new station for Elland
Plans to build a railway station in a West Yorkshire town are to be re-examined by transport leaders.

A proposed station on the re-opened Huddersfield to Halifax line had been ruled out two years ago because projected passenger figures would not justify the project.

Since then new housing and business developments have emerged raising hopes the station could now be built at Elland.

Metro, which co-ordinates public transport in West Yorkshire, has already approved a new station for Low Moor, near Bradford, and it is they considering the feasibility of a new station for Elland.

Calderdale Council believes that opening a station at Elland would encourage people commuting to Huddersfield, Brighouse and Halifax to leave their cars at home.
