Bangladesh journalist released
A Bangladeshi journalist who was arrested two months ago while working with foreign colleagues has been released from prison.

The freelance reporter, Saleem Samad, and two foreign journalists were detained while making a documentary for a British television station.

The authorities said it portrayed Bangladesh as a haven for Islamic extremists.

The two reporters from Britain and Italy were deported last month.

Mr Samad told the BBC after his release that he had done nothing wrong in helping the two journalists.

He said it was the government itself which had damaged Bangladesh's image abroad by arresting opposition supporters.
