Victim 'critical' after stabbing
Hampshire police sign
Police are appealing for witnesses to the stabbing
A man was left critically ill after being stabbed outside a public house and left in the street.

The 33-year-old victim was found slumped between cars on the roadside in Southampton on Saturday night.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his head and body and was said to be in a "critical" condition on Sunday.

The area around the Maybush public house was cordoned off and officers carried out house-to-house inquiries.

Stab wounds

A spokesman for Hampshire Police said the man was found with several stab wounds in Wimpson Lane.

He said: "He was spotted at about 2055 GMT on Saturday sitting on the ground holding his head in his hands.

"Then, at about 2115 GMT, an ambulance was called to the scene.

The victim, from Bournemouth, Dorset, was wearing beige cord trousers and a blue polo shirt when he was found.

Police are now appealing for anyone with any information about the attack to come forward.
