Inquiry after four hurt in crash
Police blue light
Police have arrested four teenagers following the chase
An investigation has been launched after two teenage boys were seriously injured after their car was pursued by police.

The teenagers had been travelling in a red Ford Fiesta in Oxford shortly after midnight on Saturday when officers became suspicious.

As police approached the vehicle, it made off and officers followed in two patrol cars and a police helicopter.

Fifteen minutes later, the Fiesta was involved in an accident just north of the Heyford Hill roundabout in Headington.

Four arrested

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, police said.

The two teenage boys were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Another teenage boy and a teenage girl, who were also in the Fiesta, sustained minor injuries.

Police said all four teenagers were also arrested but refused to give any more details about the crash, which is now the subject of an investigation.

Witness appeal

The road was closed for almost five hours following the accident.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "An investigation will now be carried out by road policing officers to discover the exact circumstances behind the accident.

"The force's professional standards department has been informed, as is routine in such incidents."

The spokesman appealed for any witnesses to the accident to come forward.
