Campaign urges healthy start
The HGCA is urging people to have a hearty breakfast
Food produced in the South West is being promoted as part of a new campaign to encourage people to eat breakfast.
It aims to make sure people consider eating locally-produced goods as part of their start to the day. Farmhouse Breakfast Week, which runs from 19 to 25 January, is a chance for South West producers and farmers to promote their goods to a national audience. The week has been organised by the Home Grown Cereals Authority (HGCA). 'Increased demand' Rebecca Geraghty from the HGCA said: "Over the last few years people have become much more interested in wanting to know where their food has come from and how it has been produced. "This has led to an increase in demand for locally-grown and processed foods." The authority says there are now plenty of foods to eat at breakfast time, including specially-cured bacon, farmhouse eggs and sausages, which are all produced in the region.
