This week's round up of Welsh celebrity news sees one star revealing he suffers from a rare sleeping disorder.

The new year has opened with an admission from former Steps star Ian Watkins, or H as he is otherwise known.

Watkins, from Rhondda in south Wales, has spoken about his affliction with a rare sleeping illness called Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome (DSPS).

I always tell myself it's not as if I'm dying - I just can't nod off

Ex-Steps star H

It means the 26-year-old singer - who now performs as half of H and Claire - can only sleep for around four hours a night.

Describing the symptoms as "like having permanent jetlag", he said that sleeping pills were useless as they just hide the problem.

Instead, H - which stands for hyperactive - said he prefers to meditate once a day to stop the pressures of his celebrity life get to him.

"DSPS can get you down but I try to remain positive," he said.

"I always tell myself it's not as if I'm dying - I just can't nod off!"

Elsewhere, Catherine Zeta Jones has been rumoured to be releasing her own range of babywear.

Tom Green
Tom Green is Drew Barrymore's other ex-husband

Oh, and movie actress Drew Barrymore has announced she is getting married for the third time - this time to Fabrizio Moretti, the drummer from the Strokes.

You might be forgiven for missing the Celtic connection with that latest snippet about Ms Barrymore, but the link will be obvious to Welsh barman Jeremy Thomas - Drew's first husband.

The two wed in 1994 after a whirlwind romance, but split up less than three weeks later.

Barrymore then went on to marry Canadian comedian Tom Green, but they parted after a matter of months.

Single delay

Meanwhile, this week marks the anniversary of the suicide of Feeder drummer Jon Lee, and lead singer Grant Nicholas spoke to Radio One about how the band has got through the last year.

Incidentally, the band was due to release its new single this week, but this has been delayed due to a cock-up at the CD-pressing, which saw 25,000 copies recalled.

Despite their best efforts, the record company could not get more copies printed, which left Feeder in the lurch.

"It's a shame because the timing was perfect for us, but it's happened and we can't do much about it," said Nicholas.

There were no such pressing problems for Aled Jones, who has been presented with a gold disc to mark 100,000 sales of his album Aled.

The Songs of Praise presenter's record has sold 140,000 copies since it was released on 14 October.

Finally, scouts for the Taff Trail saw actor Matthew Rhys seeing the New Year in at a pub in Cardiff - Blwyddyn Newydd Dda to you Mr Rhys!
