More snow warnings for motorists

Black ice has been found on some roads
Motorists are being warned to take care on South West roads as icy conditions overnight have continued to affect parts of the region.

Temperatures fell as low as -4C on parts of Dartmoor in Devon.

Some bus and coach companies have cancelled services because of bad road conditions, including black ice.

Gritters have been working through the night and forecasters are warning the cold weather is likely to continue until the end of the week.

Devon County Council's control room is warning of freezing ice on the roads again as the cold snap continues.

Overnight, coldest areas were Bratton Down near Exmoor, and Stock Gate Cross in the east of the county.

There have also been problems around Okehampton, Chagford and Whidden Down.

Peter Nail from the control room said they are trying to make roads safe.

He said: "We salted last night and the gritters have been out again.

"Yesterday we managed to treat some of the secondary routes, so we should have reasonable access to many villages."

Several school bus services have been cancelled.

Taw and Torridge Coaches say all their Okehampton school buses are off.

Carmel Coaches in North Lew are not running any school buses into Okehampton.

Also the Horwell, Hatherleigh and North Tawton school buses are not running.

On Tuesday, drivers became stranded and some vehicles had to be abandoned as a result of the cold snap.

Police had to deal with a spate of road accidents after swathes of the county woke up to snow showers across parts of east Devon, Exeter and mid Devon.
