Threatened Wendy house can stay
Katie and Ben Goodwill
Katie and Ben Goodwill can now enjoy their playhouse
A Lancashire family has won its fight to keep a Wendy house in its back garden.

The Goodwills, of Barnoldswick, were told the six feet high by four feet wide playhouse would need planning permission because it was too close to a road.

But Pendle Borough Council decided not to take enforcement action, at a meeting on Tuesday night.

David and Julie Goodwill said they were "delighted" with the decision.

'Wonderful news'

Mrs Goodwill added: "It's wonderful - just the news we wanted to hear.

"We are going to wake up the kids and tell them they're going to keep it.

She added: "[The councillors] saw sense and backed down.

"They said it was a pretty little Wendy house and they could not understand why it had got so far in the first place."

Their children Ben, aged eight, and six-year-old Katie were said to be devastated at the thought of losing their early Christmas present.

They had collected more than 100 signatures on a petition calling on the council to save it.
