Court hears pupil's accusations
Truro Crown Court
It is the first day of the trial at Truro Crown Court
Truro Crown Court has heard allegations that a deputy headteacher at a Cornish school repeatedly abused one of his pupils.

Anthony Thomas Williams, 54, denies three counts of indecent assault against a child under 16 and four counts of inciting gross indecency with a child under 14.

Mr Williams, also known as Andy Williams, is a deputy head at Redruth School.

The court heard the alleged offences took place between 1992 and 1994 when the complainant - now in her early 20s - was a pupil at Redruth school.

Counsel for the prosecution Ian Ledbetter told the jury the charges were specimen counts.

He said the indecent assaults did not happen just once but they occurred "over and over and over again".

In evidence the former pupil said she was brought up in a strongly Christian home and was very naive about sexual matters when the incidents took place.

Mr Williams has been a teacher for 35 years, and a deputy head for 15.

He is currently suspended from his duties.
