Department store in quiz show war
Staff at Chadds playing 'The Weakest Link'
Anne Robinson: 'Really horrible'
Staff at Hereford department store Chadds have braved the acid tongue of Anne Robinson in a special edition of quiz show "The Weakest Link".

Department heads pitted their wits against each other in a special edition of the successful BBC2 programme.

Steve Powell, from the carpet department, was the last member of staff standing at the end of the quiz.

But the team of nine shared the £1,490 they had accumulated, each winning just over £160.

Company director Andrew Chadd said his staff took the experience in their stride: "I was very proud of everybody.

"They did pretty well.

"Under the pressure of the lights and Anne Robinson as well it was a difficult experience, but they handled themselves well."

But what did Hereford's newest television stars make of the Weakest Link's infamous host?

Head of the school wear department Helen Parry said the feisty redhead had them all squirming from the beginning: "She looked at us and said, 'Is everybody alright?'

"We said, 'Yes.'

"Then she said, 'Good. Let's wipe the smiles off your faces, we've got to start.'"

Other verdicts on BBC2's most feared presenter ranged from "pretty scary" to "really horrible".
