Policewoman arrested in vice inquiry
Prostitute
The arrest was part of an on-going prostitution inquiry
A woman police officer has been arrested in connection with an on-going inquiry into prostitution.

The unnamed Northumbria officer - believed to work in inner city Newcastle - has not been suspended.

But a force spokesman said senior officers were considering whether to take her off duty.

A male officer from the same station has been charged with conspiracy to procure women to frequent a brothel.

He also faces a charge of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm, along with another man.

The two men are due before Newcastle Crown Court on 17 January for a plea and directions hearing.

The spokesman said on Tuesday: "Further inquiries have led to the arrest of a policewoman.

"She has not been charged but has been given police bail pending further inquiries.

"Her position as to possible suspension is under consideration."
