Purple house to get new look
A notorious purple house in a Suffolk village is to get a repaint in the spring.

Villagers in Clare, near Sudbury, say they were shocked when a local woman painted the terraced house purple three years ago.

After a long-running legal dispute with St Edmundsbury Borough Council, she has agreed to paint it a more neutral colour.

Now local painter Ted Ingleby has offered to do the job himself for free.

Pub landlord fined over kitchen

A pub landlord has been ordered to pay £1,500 for failing to keep his kitchen in a fit state.

Ipswich magistrates heard how inspectors had found mould on food, dog hairs on work surfaces, and blood from meat packets on the floor at the Shepherd and Dog in Hollesley near Woodbridge.

Landlord Reginald Hawkins was given a warning, but the kitchen was found in the same state two weeks later.

He was ordered to pay a £750 fine, plus the same amount in costs.
