A Gloucestershire boy is back at school after a kidney transplant

Nine-year-old Aiden Miles had the operation last October, after becoming the 100,000th person to go on the UK transplant waiting list.

To mark the occasion he was presented with a certificate at Bristol Children's Hospital.

Aiden was diagnosed with renal failure in March 2001 and started on dialysis, but a transplant was the only real long-term solution.

Kidney unit

His parents are now fundraising to help other children in similar situations.

Aiden's father Gary, said: "He is much more outgoing and much more friendly with people, much more chatty."

Aiden's school, Northleach, has raised £6,000 for the kidney unit at Bristol Children's Hospital where the youngster was a patient.
