Man dies after fall into landfill site
Landfill site
The man was rushed to the Queen Alexandra Hospital
A man has died after falling into a landfill site in Hampshire.

The victim, believed to be in his sixties, became trapped under the wheels of a refuse lorry at Port Solent near Paulsgrove at around 1300 GMT on Monday.

He was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham, Portsmouth, but later died of his injuries.

Hampshire police said: "The Health and Safety Executive have been informed of the circumstances surrounding the incident, they and the police will be carrying out a full investigation."

A spokesman for the Hampshire Ambulance NHS Trust said: "A man was pinned down by the front wheels of the refuse lorry at the landfill site at Port Solent industrial estate.

"We sent one paramedic crew and a rapid response vehicle and the crews did everything they could to save the victim. Tragically he died later in hospital."

Police said that the identity of the crushed man was being witheld until his relatives had been told of the tragedy.
