Gun Laws
Five years' jail for possessing an illegal firearm. Britain is to get unprecedented and draconian gun laws in an attempt to cut the kind of gun crime that killed the two Birmingham girls. Controversial enough but much more so is the Home Office view that black rap music should take some of the blame .

We asked Home Office minister John Denham what evidence he had that "macho idiot rappers" cause killings.

Roy Jenkins
We also assessed the social legacy of Roy Jenkins who died on Sunday. As Home Secretary he abolished the death penalty, liberalised divorce law as well as legalising abortion and homosexual acts. Over thirty years on, are we the better for all that?

Human Shields
