Murder victim cremated
Police officers
Police have received little assistance
Police in Nottingham have expressed dismay at the lack of help given in a murder investigation.

John Shippam, 25, was shot dead in November in a suspected feud between rival crime gangs.

He was cremated by his family on Monday.

Following the service, police described his death as a "wicked and calculated" murder.

Detective Superintendent George Frame said: "Today is a very sad day for the family and friends of John Shippam and my thoughts are with them.

"We are still actively investigating this murder, although I am very disappointed at the lack of response and help from those people who I am sure know about the circumstances of the murder and the identity of those responsible for it.

"There are still many inquiries to be undertaken which I believe will identify the evidence required to convict the offenders for this wicked and calculated murder."

Reward offered

Police have now put up a reward of £10,000 for information and evidence leading to an arrest and conviction.

A post mortem examination confirmed Mr Shippam had died of gunshot wounds following an attack in the property in Chiltern Way, Bestwood, where he had lived for only a few weeks .

Police investigating the killing on 7 November said they believe he was killed as a result of infighting between criminals in the area.

The funeral service and cremation were held at Wilford Hill Cemetery and attended by family, close friends and officers from Nottinghamshire Police.
