A 46-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering a taxi driver in Greater Manchester.

Paul Craig, of Higginshaw, Oldham, appeared before the town's magistrates on Monday, following the death of Israr Hussain.

Mr Hussain, 42, of Oldham, died from a stab wound to the neck an hour after the attack in the early hours of 28 December.

Mr Craig is charged with murder and assault with intent to rob.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Manchester Crown Court on January 15.

Mr Hussain sustained his fatal wound after dropping off a passenger he had taken from Oldham centre to the Lees area of the town.
