Court appearance over sex attacks
Court graphics
A 48-year-old rail worker has appeared in court charged with carrying out a series of sex attacks across south east England.

German-born Antoni Adam Imiela, of Heathside, Appledore, near Ashford, Kent, is charged with nine counts of rape on women and girls aged between 10 and 52.

During the brief preliminary hearing at Maidstone Crown Court, Mr Imiela spoke only to confirm his name and address.

It was his second court appearance since he was charged 10 days ago.

Judge Andrew Patience QC remanded Mr Imiela in custody to reappear at the court for a plea and directions hearing on 18 February.
