A gang of up to six men are alleged to have entered the Munchee takeaway on North Road, Catchgate, near Annfield Plain, at 2000 GMT on Saturday and carried out the attack.

A 16-year-old was arrested on Sunday and has been released on bail.

Police are continuing to hold a 38-year-old local man at Consett Police Station.
