Man arrested over hit and run
A man has been arrested in Suffolk in connection with a hit and run accident on New Year's Day.
Wayne Goode, 28, died after the accident in Great Cornard. He had been at a local pub until 0100 GMT and was walking towards Sudbury when he was hit. A 21-year-old man is being questioned.
Bogus officials rob 87-year-old Two men posing as water board officials have robbed an 87-year-old woman in Ipswich. The men called at the house in Swinburne Road at about 1315 GMT claiming an explosion had taken place nearby and they needed to check inside. After the men left, the woman noticed a bag containing money had been stolen. Police are warning householders in the area to be on their guard..
Unexploded bomb A house in Ipswich was cordoned off after a gun shell was found in the front garden. Bomb disposal experts were called on Monday to make the object safe. It was originally thought the shell dated from World War II, but later it emerged the manufacture date was 1988. The Ministry of Defence is now investigating how it ended up in the garden of the house in Hawthorne Road in Chantry. |
