Web boost for transport network
Buses in the street
The executive wants more people to use buses
A new website designed to help people utilise Scotland's public transport network has been launched.

The Scottish Executive hopes the site will help travellers to plan their journeys across all the different types of public transport available.

The site fits with the executive's ongoing efforts to cut congestion and offer realistic options to driving.

Many travellers complain it is hard to match up different modes of transport, for example on a journey involving a switch from bus to train.

But now people can either phone for details or log onto the Traveline Scotland website which covers timetables for buses, coaches, ferries and even internal air services.

The telephone service is already said to be attracting 6,000 inquiries a week.

In November several new public transport projects were announced by the executive.

Transport Minister Iain Gray unveiled 23 projects which share a total of £59m in funding.
