Woman rescued from house fire
Fire crews
Fire crews attended the blaze
Neighbours rescued a woman from a house fire thought to have been started by a Christmas candle.

Local residents helped in the bid to save the woman from the burning property at Parklands in the Waterside area of Londonderry.

Substantial damage was caused to the house.

In a separate incident, 4,000 bails of hay were destroyed in a barn fire in Derry.

Two fire tenders spent almost 11 hours tackling the blaze at Ballygudden Road after the alarm was raised.

Meanwhile, there was substantial fire damage to a flat and smoke damage to another after a blaze in Dove Gardens in the city in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The blaze started in a fire chute at about 0530 GMT. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
