Man arrested following stabbing
A man has been arrested after a stabbing incident in south Belfast.

Four men were taken to hospital following the incident on Sunday morning.

The most seriously injured man has three stab wounds to his back.

The incident took place at Cromwell Road, off Botanic Avenue, in the early hours.

Disturbance

All four men are described as stable.

It is understood the men who were stabbed were among a larger party who had attended a Christmas function in the Botanic area.

They were getting into a car at Cromwell Road at about 0200 GMT when a disturbance broke out.

In a separate incident, two men were seriously assaulted outside a bar in the city centre.

Just before 0300 GMT on Sunday they were confronted by a number of men who got out of two cars at the junction of Waring Street and Bridge Street.

They were attacked and one of the men was struck on the head with a bottle, but managed to escape.

The other suffered serious facial injuries, and is still being treated in hospital.

Detectives at Musgrave Street police station are investigating both incidents and appealing for witnesses to come forward.
