Murdered girls remembered in song
 Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman
The song remembers "two little angels"
Murdered schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman are to be remembered by their fellow pupils in a special song.

Children in Soham, Cambridgeshire, will sing the tribute at a carol service in nearby Ely Cathedral on Thursday.

The song Two Little Angels was written by music teacher Stephen Kenna, who works at Soham Village College secondary school.

Holly and Jessica, both 10, vanished in early August after being seen walking near their homes in Soham.

Their bodies were found two weeks later in a ditch near Lakenheath, Suffolk.

Both the Wells and Chapman families have given their blessing to the song being performed.

The song recalls two earlier tributes to the youngsters - the release of doves by children at the village college, and a poem called Soham's Rose which was written by Holly's father, Kevin Wells.

Mr Kenna said he wrote the song following meetings between teachers and parents in Soham, prior to the start of the autumn term.

"This came really from meetings we had before the schools came back in September," said Mr Kenna.

"When I wrote the song I kept it to myself. The words were quite sentimental."

Mr Kenna said as well as recalling aspects of the town's reaction to the tragedy, the song also looked forward.

"I think it is important to move on," he said. "The last third [of the song] is a celebration of Christmas."

Two charged

Jessica and Holly were both pupils at St Andrew's Primary School, which is on the same site as the village college.

Holly's brother Oliver and Jessica's sister Alison are pupils at the village college.

Jessica's mother Sharon is a learning support assistant at St Andrew's.

Two people have been charged in connection with the girls' murders.

Ian Huntley, 28, a former caretaker at the village college, denies murdering the girls and conspiring to pervert the course of justice.

His girlfriend, Maxine Carr, 25, a former teacher assistant in Holly and Jessica's class, denies perverting the course of justice. Both are awaiting trial.

Two Little Angels

Two little angels looking down on me
Two little angels with God they'll always be
Two little angels forever will be free
Two little angels through God we can all see

Their message is this Christmas-time
That peace be all around
That picture of the flying doves
So silent and profound
So pray that peace will echo round our world
So pray that peace will echo round our world

The spirit of the angel's song
Like a rose in a garden place
The colour and the perfect shape
Like the smile of an innocent face
So pray that peace will echo round our world
So pray that peace will echo round our world

So celebrate this Christmas-time
We hear the angels sing
Their message is so loud and clear
From them to you we bring
To pray that peace will echo round our world
To pray that peace will echo round our world
