Man in court over hammer attack
The house in Oxton
The couple were found at their Merseyside house
A 25-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering his father and attempting to kill his mother.

Mark William O'Hare, who identified himself as Mark Williams, was remanded in custody at Wirral magistrates, Merseyside.

Mr Williams spoke only to confirm his name, and gave his address as Acocks Green in Birmingham.

He is accused of killing his father, John O'Hare, 51, and attempting to kill his mother Diane O'Hare, 44 , at their home in Birch Close in Oxton Village, Wirral.

Mrs O'Hare is still in a critical condition in hospital.

It is alleged that the pair were attacked with a claw hammer.

There was no application for bail, and Mr Williams was remanded in custody until Thursday.
