Armed robber opens fire at garage

The cashier suffered only minor injuries in the attack

A balaclava-wearing gunman has fired a shot into a petrol station during an unsuccessful robbery in Berkshire.

The attack took place shortly after midnight Friday at Murco Petroleum, on Cookham Road, Maidenhead.

The attacker fired a gun from the forecourt into the shop before running off towards Maidenhead town Centre.

The bullet missed the cashier.

Maidenhead police are calling for witnesses and want to hear from two people who spoke to the cashier at the garage just after the incident.

In addition to the balaclava, the man was dressed in dark clothing.

Inspector Phil Rogers said: "The bullet left a hole an inch wide, fortunately the cashier suffered only minor injuries from the broken glass."
