European Union Enlargement
Protesters
Newsnight was live from Copenhagen where the final negotiations were taking place over enlargement of the European Union. Gordon Brewer was there, and reported on this historic settlement which reshapes the continent's Cold War divide, but which leaves Turkey waiting to begin negotiations for membership until December 2004.

We had an interview with the Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and the EU Commissioner for External Relations, Chris Patten.

Deepcut Deaths
And new evidence on the deaths of four soldiers at Deepcut barracks has been produced by a ballistics expert who believes they may not have been suicides. But Forensic consultant Frank Swann told Newsnight that he needs more co-operation from the police.
